Why Does My Polaris 360 Keep Floating?

There are a few reasons why your Polaris 360 pool cleaner may be floating instead of staying on the bottom of your pool. In this article, we will discuss some of the most common reasons and how to fix them.

1. Air in the Hose

If there is air trapped in the hose of your Polaris 360 pool cleaner, it can cause the cleaner to float. The air can enter the hose from the skimmer or the pump basket. To fix this issue, turn off your pool pump and disconnect the hose from the cleaner. Hold one end of the hose below the water level and slowly move it around to release the trapped air. Once all the air is out, reconnect the hose and turn the pump back on.

2. Dirty Filter Bag

If the filter bag in your Polaris 360 pool cleaner is full of debris or dirt, it can cause the cleaner to float. To fix this issue, turn off your pool pump and remove the filter bag from the cleaner. Empty the debris from the bag and rinse it thoroughly with a hose. Once the bag is clean, reattach it to the cleaner and turn the pump back on.

3. Broken or Loose Hose Connections

If the hose connections on your Polaris 360 pool cleaner are loose or broken, it can cause air to enter the hose and make the cleaner float. To fix this issue, turn off your pool pump and check all the hose connections. Tighten any loose connections and replace any broken ones. Once all the connections are secure, turn the pump back on.

4. Improper Hose Length

If the hose on your Polaris 360 pool cleaner is too long or too short, it can cause the cleaner to float. To fix this issue, measure the distance from your pool skimmer or dedicated suction line to the farthest point in your pool. Add two feet to this measurement and cut the hose to that length. Once the hose is the proper length, reattach it to the cleaner and turn the pump back on.

5. Broken or Worn Out Thrust Jet

If the thrust jet on your Polaris 360 pool cleaner is broken or worn out, it can cause the cleaner to float. The thrust jet is responsible for providing the necessary propulsion to keep the cleaner on the bottom of the pool. To fix this issue, turn off your pool pump and remove the cleaner from the pool. Inspect the thrust jet for any damage or wear and replace it if necessary. Once the new thrust jet is installed, reattach the cleaner to the hose and turn the pump back on.
